Author of
COCKTAILS WITH A TRYST
Q: Who inspired you the most to write COCKTAILS WITH A TRYST?
I am continually inspired by my daughters. They are extremely creative and talented. I encourage them to step outside their comfort zone to pursue their dreams and they do! But I wasn’t doing the same. Their willingness to embrace the unknown to follow their dreams inspired me to do the same.
Q: And what was the inspiration to write the stories?
The stories began while I was in a long distance relationship. My lover would email me a list of ten to twelve words. Many words were as innocent as slide, breath or flow. I would incorporate the word list into a sexy story. It challenged my imagination and it was quite fun sharing the stories.
Q: How did you come up with the title?
The title is a play on words in a way. Many drinks are garnished with a cocktail twist. So, Cocktails with a Tryst came naturally when I began playing with different words to describe the stories. They are encounters with a lover; a tryst or rendezvous.
Q: Whose writing influences you?
There isn’t a particular author or writer who influences me. More accurately I would have to say the author of any book I am currently reading. I make notes of what I like and don’t like as I read. This hopefully helps me improve my own writing.
Q: How long did it take you to write the stories?
Depending on the story, they might take a day to a week to get them down on paper. It’s polishing the story and then editing that take much longer.
Q: What authors do you read?
Right now I am trying to discover new authors in erotic fiction and contemporary fiction. But an author I love to read anytime she publishes is Cecilia Ahern. I usually marathon read her books. Zara Stoneley and Charlotte Stein are two I’ve recently read and enjoyed. Lori Nelson Spielman wrote The Life List. It was another book I couldn’t put down.
Q: What are you working on now? What is your next project?
I am currently editing stories for a second and third book similar to Cocktails with a Tryst. While I edit those stories, I’m jotting down notes for more stories beyond the ones already written.
